I got 02 wrx but i want to replace factory intake with nice and not so xpensive cold air intake. I looked at couple of em at price range 268 which is high for me K&N 69-8000TB typhoon. if you get a new intake, do you think my gas mileage will drop or give better gas mileage with new intake? if you could jst leave the link on my your answer so i can look at it. thanks you so much.
Actually, your car being an 02 can benefit from an intake and run fine without tuning. People are scared of them but it's only from 04 that the computers changed and they don't work well with intakes. Your car is a little rich from the factory and an intake will lean it out and make some power. Just don't expect much though. I would say just get one with a good brand on it. I like Perrin stuff because they are local to me and their stuff is really nice. But K&N, Injen, Cobb, AEM should all be pretty good. As far as the mileage, thy claim it gets better but you may drive differently with the new sounds and find it dropping. But it's pennies now so who cares. One thing though. If you are after power, I would look to getting a tune. It's a little pricey but a custom tune on a stock car will give you twice as much power as a car with all the bolt on parts without tuning. Something to think about.
