I have basic mechanic knowledge and was wondering if this is more complicated than removing screws putting on new parts and putting screws back. Any info would help a lot thanks
Because oil has a habit of following gravity and it runs down, you would do well to replace the valve cover gaskets first and see if this is not the primary cause of your leak. A lot of manufacturers have done away with valve cover gaskets in favour of RTV= room temperature vulcanization type sealants. If this be the case, use a good quality RTV so you only have to do this procedure once. I have had a lot of luck with the black form of the RTV. If after this repair, you still have a leak, then you can proceed to evaluate that pan gasket. Removing an oil pan can be very complicated and involve lifting the engine out of the mounts or removing parts that are in the way. Don't go there unless you have to. Good Luck
