Do i need a cap?
I have a Kicker cvt 12" 4ohm and i have it hooked up to a 760watt pioneer amp. ill be goin down the road bangin it and i looked at my battery level (which is usually at about "A" on the word normal thats displayed) and it was at the "O". also when i crank it up they beat down then cut off and i turn down the volume then there fine till it hits another low note. im using standard speaker wire from the amp to the sub, 4 gauge wire from the battery to the fuse, and 4 gauge from the fuse to the distribution block, 10 gauge wire from distribution block to amp. i also have 2 8" jbls wired to a 500 watt amp but they are not wired to the head unit at the moment. the pioneer amp is 2,4,and 8ohm stable. i have 85 amp alternator. if u need anymore info just ask. thanx
You should replace the 10 gauge from your dblock to the amp with something lower.
If you are running over 1000w rms you will need to: do the big 3 upgrade (http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~73496~PN~1), upgrade to a deep cycle battery, upgrade to a high output alternator, in that order.
A second battery will only put an added strain on your alternator. You are going to need an even larger alterator to charge two batteries instead of just one. A second battery will only give you longer listening time in the parking lot when your car is off.
A cap will only help if you already have a sufficient charging system. A cap just stores energy. If the cap does not have enough energy to store, from an inediquite charging system, then it will do you no good.
IMO spend your money on something else. There are SO many better things to spend your money on then a cap. Even if you have an adequite charging system a cap will not do much for you and will never be needed.
What you need is more power. A cap will not produce power only an alternator is going to.
Good Luck!!!
