I have a 351w in a 87 crown vic that i use as a enduro race car it blew up the rad ( Compleatly blew the tanks of it ) Replaced the rad put a new fan on it ( was shue the fan was why it overheated ) started next race and all apperd to be ok untill the temp suddely peged we pulled of the track coold it off refilled the rad and went back out it was ok for a few laps but it peged again and started to pump water out the tailpipe was told that we blew a headgasket or cracked a head any way to cheque without sending the head out
thanks to those who replyed there is no water in the oil and no oil on the rad. in the class of racing that i do i have to stick to stock heads
also there is no thermostat only a large washer type divice to restrict waterflow
Most likely as the others have said, it is either the head gasket or heads. I have had a problem where it was the intake manifold gasket and it was spewing water out of the carburetor like a gusher. When I shut the engine off, I had water in a couple of cylinders.
