I have a 1990 jeep wrangler sahara 4.2 litter staight 6 carburetor engine. I was driving through a rain storm, and it was working fine, but when I turned off, and then back on, it started to sputter like it was going to die. So the next day, I took out the fule filter to see if it was okay, and it was. Then I took out the old air intake tube because it was all messed up, and left it out. I started it up, and it stays running as long as you keep constant gas flowing through it, but if it sets and idols, it sputters out and dies. I would really appreciate if someone could help me out, thanks a ton.
Check the ignition. Distributor cap, rotor, plug wires. Im guessing that one of these got wet and is causing you trouble.
